First Day of School!!!

Today was a big, big day in our house, a day that signals big change for all of us..... the first day of school. G starts pre-k this year and K will be in what they call K3 (or the 3 yr old program) in the same school.  This year is more demanding for G. He is going 5 days a week now instead of 3 and will be prepared by the end of the year to do some reading and writing.  K had her first day ever today.  She will also be in school 5 days a week and is entering a whole new realm of being more independent as well as being responsible for using the potty on her own.  School starting brings a big change for S as his work schedule and the kids schedule will conflict more resulting in less hours together every day except for sundays.  This year brings a HUGE change for me as well, as I have time to myself 5 mornings a week! Well....at least until January  :)

The kids were a little lukewarm about starting but both had stellar days.  We knew G would have a good day as he has done this before and many of the kids from his class last year carried over to this year.  K was more of a wildcard.  This was a first at separation for her.  When she first got to her room, she tore away and started exploring all the toys.  We were relieved she had adjusted so seamlessly.  She tried to follow us out the door, but held herself together and didn't cry.  Her teacher said she did ask for daddy several times, however.  :)  Her potty training skills (or lack thereof) definitely need work and she is supposed to be fully potty trained to be in with the 3 year olds.  I sent her with 3 outfit changes and figured if she wet through only one outfit, the day would be a success.  To our surprise, she stayed dry and remained in the outfit we sent her in.   GREAT JOB K!  In perfect sync with her brother, she did not use the school potty all day.  My kids and public toilets......

It was no sweat for us to drop the kids off at school.  We had the chance to get a nice breakfast together  ALONE before heading to my 16 week prenatal appointment.  I was very excited for S to hear the heartbeat for the first time!  Everything is progressing along beautifully.  Belly is growing well and I have been feeling baby move for about a week now.  Baby has good strong heartbeat at 153 bpm.  Next appointment is the  20 week ultrasound!
